Tree Lighting Magic

When it comes to landscape lighting, trees can add an element of beauty and ambiance to any outdoor space. Whether you’re looking for a subtle highlight or a dramatic art piece, tree lighting is the perfect way to create a statement in your yard. Not only does tree lighting add visual interest, but it can also be used as a functional tool when strategically placed. Here are some common benefits of tree lighting and how to plan your lighting design around trees.

The Benefits of Tree Lighting
Tree lighting is one of the most popular outdoor landscaping techniques that homeowners use today. There are many benefits that come with tree lighting, including improved safety and security, increased curb appeal, and greater visual interest. By strategically placing lights in the right locations around your trees, you can reduce dark spots in your yard while also creating beautiful focal points that draw attention away from problem areas. In addition to this, proper tree lighting can even help protect visitors by illuminating pathways or walkways leading up to your home or driveway.

Choosing the Right Lighting for Your Trees
Up lighting is a great way to showcase your trees.  A bullet or well fixture is placed in front of the tree and aimed at the canopy of the tree.  Down lighting is our favorite by placing fixtures high up in the branches of the tree and shining them down through the branches.  This creates a magical effect with the perfect amount of light shining down through the branches onto the ground.  This is a great way to light stairs and walkways. Another fixture type used in trees is placing hanging fixtures in the tree.  The fixtures are spread out in the tree at varying heights and the fixtures have pinholes for the light to shine around the fixture as well as light coming from the bottom.

Tree lighting is an excellent way to create visual interest and enhance security in any outdoor space while also highlighting beautiful specimens with strategic placement of lights around their trunks and branches.  With thoughtful decisions regarding type and placement of lights along with careful consideration during planning stages—you can turn any ordinary yard into something truly extraordinary!
