Smart Lighting Controls
Creating a smart home is a trend that here to stay and the costs have come down as more products have come to market. Even if you haven’t set out to create a smart home, many products you buy now come with the capabilities to be controlled by an app on your phone.
Thinking of creating a smart home? The first decision to make is to decide what functions you want to make smart in your home. Consider items that will offer you the most convenience and that will add functionality to your home. Smart outdoor lighting takes lighting to another level by adding automation, flexibility, and convenience.
Smart lighting is something that can be added to an existing system or part of a brand new install. Landscape Lighting Guru has installed many different smart lighting systems for customers and can work with your current smart home system if you already started.
How does Smart Lighting work?
Outdoor lighting is installed as low voltage lighting and is controlled by a transformer. The transformer can be plugged into a smart outdoor plug that will allow you to remotely control your entire lighting system from anywhere in the world with an app. You can create a schedule for your outdoor lighting in the app as well as have the ability to turn it on/off. It is ideal for smart control of landscape and bistro lighting! If you want to be able to control the system without the app, a remote can be added to control when in the space.
Often customers will already be able to control outdoor outlets with a switch inside your home. Those can also be turned into the smart system with a new smart switch. The switches come in different colors to match your existing switches in your home. Landscape Lighting Guru will also install these switches to control your interior lighting if you want that added on too!
All of these products require that there is Wi-Fi visible at each location. This has led to some people upgrading to a higher quality mesh Wi-Fi system to take advantage of smart capabilities. Some smart systems solve this problem with a hub which will create a single direction connection to the entire system.
