Integrated LED Light Fixtures
The upgrade to LED is a simple for most, but the real question is what type of fixture is right for you: LED ready or integrated LED Fixture?
A fully integrated LED fixture is a complete outdoor light fixture assembly including the LED array built in. Unlike LED ready fixtures, the diodes in this type of fixture is designed with a specific color temperature and Lumen output. Although these fixtures often have a higher upfront cost than LED ready fixtures, they also tend to have a longer life rating and efficacy when compared to the LED lamps in other fixtures. The potential compatibility problems with ballasts are also eliminated since it’s an all-in-one system.
In addition to integrated LED fixtures simplifying the lighting system installation, they also often allow for a higher lumen output equivalent to halogen. If your current fixtures need major repairs, it may be worth simply replacing the entire fixture with an integrated LED one. There are many design options in the fully integrated fixtures and you don’t have to worry about ever needing to change a bulb. This is great for hard to reach places.
So what is the downside to an integrated LED fixture? The biggest obstacle is that when the LED no longer works, the entire fixture needs to be replaced. There is no bulb or way to switch out to a new one. This is why it is crucial to choose a light fixture from a highly reputable company with an extended warranty on their product. So if your fixture doesn’t continue working within the guaranteed time, you can have the fixture replaced by the manufacturer.
