Astronomical Timers – Should you upgrade?

Landscape Lighting should be easy for the homeowner and an astronomical timer can help you do just that.  An astronomical timer is a sophisticated timing control system for outdoor landscape lighting systems and is extremely effective. Once installed and initially programmed, the time shouldn’t require any additional work.

The initial programming may seem more involved than other timing control system but the programming can be as simple as entering the approximate GPS coordinates of your property’s location, or zip code. Using this information, the astronomical timer will know exactly what time the sunrise and sunset are no matter what time of year!

Unlike photocell timers, astronomical timers don’t need to sense the light outside to determine what time the sun is setting. With an astronomical timer, your transformer’s location becomes irrelevant.

Like a digital timer, an astronomical can be set to various on/off times for different days. You can have your lights shut off at midnight on weekdays and 2:00 A.M. on weekends. An astronomical timer also has a memory with a built-in battery.

Unlike a digital timer, an astronomical timer can be set to adjust itself for daylight savings, it’s extremely accurate & it shouldn’t require any adjusting after the initial setup.

It uses your location to determine dusk and dawn times and then automatically adjusts for Daylight Saving Time. The astronomic timer can replace most timers and photocells, making it a great option for anyone that wants to avoid the hassle.

Landscape Lighting Guru has been installing astronomical timers as our standard timer for years.  As part of a new outdoor lighting project, this type of timer is included with Landscape Lighting Guru.  If you have had a system installed in the last few years, you shouldn’t need to upgrade!
